Well, the Incandescent Lightbulb will become extinct in 2014.  I don’t know how I feel about this.  Yes, it’s great because all of those disposable lightbulbs will quit filling the landfills and all the new compact flourescents will be using up less energy, but honestly?  Are we really fixing the problem?

What about the original lightbulb?  You know, the one Thomas Edison built that’s still burning in the Smithsonian.  The one that never goes out as long as it has a current running through it. 

Perhaps it uses a bit too much energy, but not nearly as much wasteful energy as today’s lightbulbs.

Once again, profit holds us back from sustainability. *sigh*

In the meantime, flourescent fixtures give off a funny noise.  I think I’m going to start making candles ;)
